Texas militarized border
Texas Governor Rick Perry has announced the deployment of one thousand National Guard troops on the border, in what he called Operation Security Force, in response to the migration crisis over the crossing of thousands of undocumented children from Central America.
He also requested the White House and Congress to authorize the hiring of 3,000 additional border patrol agents that eventually would replace the National Guard soldiers.
“I will not be watching (while the immigration crisis worsens). The price of inaction is very high (…) You can not achieve homeland security without border security and the Texans have already paid a heavy price for the failure of the federal government,” Perry said in Austin.
The deployment of the National Guard, said, will multiply the efforts against drug and people traffickers, and other criminals who threaten the security of the population in Texas and the United States.
