On Monday, February 20, the Armed Forces of Ecuador (FAE) issued a statement denouncing rumors regarding their “participation in some type of electoral fraud.”
The report highlights the work carried out by the institution before, during and after the election day held on Sunday, February 19.
In addition, the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Command of the Armed Forces emphatically rejected “false rumors” involving members of the military institution.
They add that “they are not political actors” and that their mission was “to safeguard and to transfer the material, according to the protocols and chains of custody established by the Law.”
