The fate of the Yasuní will be known today
Today, the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, will inform to Ecuadorians the decision to be taken on the Yasuní-ITT initiative after several analyses made at the meetings carried out in recent days.
At the begining, the plan was to keep underground 846 million barrels of crude oil, located in the bowels of the Ishpingo, Tambococha and Tiputini fields in Exchange for foreign countries to support the initiative financially.
After yesterday’s meeting, which lasted more than 3 hours, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, indicated that he was not authorized, as well as any other authority, to announce the decision on the Yasuni-ITT initiative, and that President himself will be the one to communicate the decision in a national primetime television broadcast today.
