Posted On 16 Aug 2012
The bread-producing sector is concerned for the increase on the price of the quintal of flour. As of last Monday the new price is $42, a week ago the quintal of flour was worth $37.
Nicolas Lara, the president of the Bakers Union of Guayaquil, stated that milling companies justify the increase of the price is because of the drought in the United States which caused that the shipping’s to Ecuador diminish.
Lara also pointed out that this situation could harm the price for the public in the upcoming days. The prognosis could mean that the increase would be of $ 0,02 once the reserves of flour run out. (AV)
