The Prosecutor’s Office asks for a million dollar fine for Carlos and John Pólit

The trial of former Comptroller Carlos Pólit and his son John Pólit, for the crime of concussion in the Odebrecht case, began on Monday, May 28. Three days later the Prosecutor’s Office made the official accusation.
Father and son were designated as author and accomplice respectively in this offense consisting of pressing or asking for certain economic favors from the public position held. That is, take advantage of the functions that are required to comply.
Based on this, the Office of the Prosecutor requested a fine of $ 40.4 million each, in addition to the publication of the decision decided on in 3 newspapers of national circulation.

Once the trial was over, prosecutor Paúl Pérez accused the former comptroller as the author of a concussion in the Odebrecht case and named his son John as an accomplice. They would have favored the Brazilian construction company in exchange for 10.1 million dollars. The Office of the Attorney General explained that, of the total amount, $ 6 million was received in exchange for failing glosses against the construction company, and $ 4.1 million for the issuance of favorable reports from the Comptroller’s Office in five strategic projects in which the construction company participated.
He also revealed that the son of the former Comptroller had placed $ 1.7 million in the companies Cosani and Plastiquim simulating credits from the company Venture Overseas.
The Attorney General dispensed with having Jorge Glas as a witness to the trial, although he was originally expected to attend.
