The whole sales chain sees bad effects with the reform

BEBIDAS-ECUADORTIMES-ECUADORNEWSIt was noon and Susana Andrango, 52, went yesterday to a grocery store to buy soda and some bread. She said this would be her lunch, the same she would share with a colleague. They are currently working in a construction in the northern center of the capital. That is why she does not agree with the increase to sugary drinks posed by the Organic Law of Public Finance Balance, which is currently discussed in the Assembly.

She says that her budget is $ 1 a day for lunch and since work is hard, this is the most economical and enjoyable thing she can buy.

Across the counter, Fernanda Almeida, owner of a grocery store in the sector, thinks that her business will be affected by falling sales: “This is always the same, when prices rise, sales drop.” According to her, this is not the moment for a hike, because customers feel that their pockets are being affected. Hernan Trujillo, owner of a neighboring grocery store, says that sales will drop, but he is confident that consumption returns to normality.
