Whether due to history, tradition or religion, Latin American calendars have a minimum of nine and a maximum of 19 national holidays that are not worked on, according to the Public Holidays Global portal.
Argentina is the Latin American country with the most holidays per year, while Nicaragua is the one with the fewest.
Holidays in Ecuador
In Ecuador there are 11 annual national holidays: New Year (January 1), Carnival (two days of variable date), Good Friday (variable date), Labor Day (May 1) and Battle of Pichincha (May 24). .
As well as First Cry for Independence (August 10), Guayaquil Independence (October 9), All Souls Day (November 2), Cuenca Independence (November 3) and Christmas (December 25).
“When the national or local mandatory rest days established in this Law correspond to Saturdays or Sundays, the rest will be transferred, respectively, to the previous Friday or to the following Monday.”
This is established by the Reform Law to the Organic Law of Public Service and the Labor Code.
