EcuadorNews:
The introduction of transgenics for research purposes is the proposal outgoing president Rafael Correa makes through the partial objection to the Agrobiodiversity, Seeds, and Promotion of Sustainable Agriculture bill, forwarded to the Legislature last Friday.
According to Section 401 of the Constitution, Ecuador is a country free of transgenic crops and seeds. Through its social networks, the organization Acción Ecologica said that this presidential provision, “would violate the condition of a country free from GM crops and seeds.”
