Tungurahua started producing lava fountains and clouds of steam again
The Tungurahua volcano, currently in activity since 1999, yesterday generated fountains of lava in its crater, clouds of steam and ash emanations.
Daniel Pacheco, one of the scientists who closely follows the behavior of the volcano, indicated that in the sectors of Chonglotus and Manzano, reports of ash fall have been received, and also strong and constant noises have registered.
Pacheco said, too, that it’s a process of liberation of energy which is usual in the Tungurahua, as he intercuts periods of high activity with periods of relative calm.
The activity of the volcano is more conspicuous in the night; the darkness allows you to appreciate the glow at the crater, which it´s like watch Fireworks.
The Instituto Geofísico (IG) of the Escuela Politécnica Nacional, reported that is expected that the volcano keeps this behavior for several days.
