United States offers not to sentence Snowden to death
Posted On 27 Jul 2013
President Barack Obama has offered Russia not to issue a death sentence against the former analyst of the CIA, Edward Snowden, accused of espionage, hoping to get Russian authorities to manage the return of the spy to United States.
This was offered in a letter sent by the Secretary of Justice of the United States, Eric Holder, to his Russian counterpart, Alexandr Konoválov, on July 23 which was disclosed yesterday.
Russia maintains its refusal to extradite Edward Snowden, who has applied for asylum in that country, as it did to several countries around the world, the first of them was Ecuador.
