Universities will be evaluated on five areas
Unlike 2009, when universities were assessed on four areas, this year the universities, both public and private of Ecuador, they will be evaluated over one more area than the previous year.
The process is conducted by the National Council for evaluation, accreditation and assurance of the quality of the superior education (Ceaaces), and within this review the areas of: Academy, academic efficiency, research, organization and infrastructure will be examined.
In the academic area, the first three parameters refer to the number of teachers with academic titles of doctorates (PhD) and master’s degree within the institution.
One of the aspects that were decided to qualify this time, is whether the full time teachers have physical spaces, in this case own offices equipped with computers, telephone and Internet access.
Academic efficiency evaluates for example the number of students who are still in the institution after years of entering, to determine the rate of retention of students.
In the previous evaluation research played an important role, this year will return to be considered an area apart and will be evaluated its planning, scientific production and book publishing.
Finally in infrastructure, not only will measure the students and teachers access to virtual libraries, but rather the average number of visits per user will be counted.
