University of the Arts has begun to operate

The administrative activities of the University of the Arts (Uartes) start today. So said the Minister of culture and national heritage, Paco Velasco, in a press conference yesterday in the Simon Bolivar of the Guayas Government Hall.

The array, located in the renovated building of the public entity, will host 224 students admitted to the course of levelling in the careers of literature, music and cinema, which will start on March 31.

The Minister of culture and heritage said that there are 102 teachers with titles of fourth level, candidates to be part of the teaching staff of the institution.

Diego Almeida, Manager of the Uartes project, said that this educational establishment will be part of a network of universities and art institutes in Latin America, Europe and Asia, with which agreements will be carried out.

He said that those wishing to form in the Uartes must obtain a minimum 600 points in the entrance examination of the Senescyt (National Secretary of higher education, science, technology and innovation). To access the test they have to enter on the website www.snna.gob.ec.

Next September is expected to start regular classes in literature, music and film careers, and another course of leveling.
