Venezuelan Opposition triumphs in mayorships of San Cristóbal and San Diego
The opposition of Venezuela ratified the triumph of their mayors, Patricia Gutiérrez de Ceballos and Rosa de Scarano, who jolted to the Chavism an expected and significant defeat.
With a participation of 58.58% of the voters, Gutiérrez de Ceballos obtained the 73.62% of the votes in San Cristobal, tripling the percentage achieved by the Chavist candidate Alejandro Mendez Jesus Pineda (25.52%).
Meanwhile, Rosa de Scarano, will be the new Mayor of the San Diego’s municipality, having obtained the 87.68% of the votes, twelve points more than her husband Enzo Scarano obtained in December 2013.
For his part, the former presidential candidate Henrique Capriles was pleased, stating through his Twitter account: “setback to Nicolas and his government by our people of San Cristobal and San Diego, so that they respect the voice of the people.”
