Violation of Ecuadorian women’s rights continues

According to the latest population census made by INEC, in Ecuador there are 7’829.061 women, becoming half of the national population. However, despite the great progress in human rights, women doesn’t enjoy equality with men, while the number of domestic violence and abuse of women continue to warn our society.
According to data released by INEC, the average Ecuadorian has the following characteristics: average age 30 years old, managed to finish high school, working in the commercial sector or teaching, single and, primarily, a victim of physical and psychological abuse.
That’s why, today the UN Women alert the high level of violence against women in Ecuador.
