SUPREMO PANAMEÑO FALLARÁ EN TRES DÍAS SOBRE EXTRADICIÓN DE LARA YEPESThe criminal division of the Supreme Court of Panama decided yesterday that in three the decision on the extradition against former assemblyman Galo Lara will be taken, who says he is a political persecuted and fears for his life if returning to the country.

Nelson Jose Brandao, Lara´s Attorney, says that the Court’s decision will be based on: if they fulfilled the formalities of the extradition request; If Lara is a political objective; and if his human rights were violated.

Lara said at the hearing that he would have evidence that there are plans to assassinate him in a prison if he is extradited to Ecuador.

The hearing room was attended by former Ecuadorian Presidents, Lucio Gutierrez and Abdalá Bucaram, who planned to testify in defense of Lara, but the court did not consider it was appropriate.
