World Bank: Dollar Hegemony Will End Later Than 2025
Posted On 17 May 2011
In a report on “The new global economy”, the World Bank said that by the year 2025 the dollar hegemony in the international monetary system will be completed since a tripolar system, which will also include the euro and yuan, will take its place.
According to the report the emerging market currencies, including the yuan or ‘renminbi’ (official name), inevitably will play a larger role as these economies play a major role in the global economy, increasingly involved in cross-border trade and finance.
According the World Bank, the dollar will lost its unquestioned place as the dominant international currency by 2025.
