Zavala paid the fine imposed by the TCE
Nelson Zavala, former candidate for the Presidency of Ecuador for PRE, yesterday canceled the fine imposed by the Electoral Contentious Tribunal (TCE) for committing an offense in the recent election campaign when referring to homosexuals as people with “unnatural conduct”
Those expressions caused the members of the GLBTI (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex) to file a complaint against him, and requested the TCE to check to qualify his expressions as discriminatory.
The fine of Zavala, of ten unified basic salaries ($ 3 180), was cancelled at 12:49 yesterday at the Banco Nacional de Fomento, as stated in the deposit.
The former presidential candidate, who in addition lost his political rights by the TCE, considered that the sanction was unfair and confirmed that he will legally demand Catalina Castro, President of the TEC, for alleged malfeasance because h thinks that his constitutional rights were violated.
