800 Victims in Ivory Coast Offensives

Human Rights defense agencies warned that if the chaos in Abidjan continues to grow, a serious conflict could arise. Meanwhile Henry Gray, member of Doctor Without Borders, informed that the civil unrest has gotten too dangerous and no one dares to go out of their homes.

The forces loyal to the new president, Alassane Ouattara, started a great offensive against the militaries that support the acting president, Laurent Gbagbo, who has not made any public appearances. The hostilities persist in several parts of the country, meanwhile the government of Ouattara has closed the land and sea borders until further notice. However the air traffic was renewed.

The French Ambassador in Ivory Coast informed that the residence of Gbagbo is empty. Meanwhile the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alcide Djedje, informed that Gbagbo remains inside the presidential palace, were several attacks by troops loyal to Ouattara were reported. The International Red Cross informed that the casualties of the hostilities reached a total of 800 victims.
