Venezuela Shows the First images of Chavez in Cuba

Yesterday, Venezuela’s state television broadcast a video showing President Hugo Chavez in the company of Cuban president, Fidel Castro. This is the first appearance of Chavez after his surgery last June 10.

In the video, Chavez was visibly leaner but in good spirits. The state media broadcast images in order to end the rumors about the health of the Venezuelan leader. While Cuban television did not talk about president’s health and gave no details of its location in Cuba.

Andrés Izarra Venezuelan Minister of Information and Communication said: “We have received some pictures that will go around the world.” (BG)
