Barcelona Strengthens Second place in National Championship

Last Sunday, Barcelona Sporting Club won 3-1  to El Nacional (Quito) at the Monumental stadium, in the last game of the date 14 of the National Soccer Championship.

Edison Preciado opened the marker, putting the visiting team ahead at minute 23. Minutes later, Barcelona matched the scoring with a penalty kick taken by Argentine Ivan Borghello.

In the first two minutes of the second half of the match; again Borghello achieved the second goal for the yellow team. Finally, Holger Matamoros ruled the party with the third goal with a second penalty.

Xavier Chila and Flavio Caicedo, both defenders of El Nacional were ejected. Chila was expulsed when the referee gave him the second yellow card. Caicedo got a straight red.

With this win, Barcelona gets 28 points securing second place in the standings. Meanwhile, The National followed with 21 points
