Today the Syrian government forces heavily shelled the cities of Aleppo, Daraa and a suburb of Damascus on the second day of a major Muslim holiday Monday. The attack claimed the lives of 30 people according to activists groups.

Last Sunday there was a relative calm in the Syria civil war, mainly because it was the first of three days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. During this holiday, Muslims over the world celebrate by wearing new clothes, feasting on sumptuous food and visiting the graves of loved ones.

However the Syrian regime renewed fighting, showed that President Bashar al-Assad’s regime is not letting up his efforts to quell the 17-month old uprising. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Local Coordination Committees, 10 bodies of adult males were executed in the Qaboun district in the capital of Damascus. (AV)
