Two sides struggle for the power of Hugo Chavez

Diosdado Cabello and Nicolas Maduro
The President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, also part of the delegation led by Vice President Nicolás Maduro, travelled to Cuba where President Hugo Chavez is hospitalized where he is treated after the fourth operation for his cancer.
The newspaper Ultimas Noticias said in its publication that it’s “unknown agenda that will Cabello in check.” The Chavista majority could the head of the legislative entity could reelect him as the President of the Assembly this Saturday, January 5. This position would put him in third place with possibility of assuming the temporal presidency in Venezuela. This depends on the different scenarios that can arise in the permanent absence of the president.
According to the Constitution, the President of the Parliament should take the presidency in case of the absolute absence of the head of state for not taking office, while elections are called.
Anyway, Cabello’s journey has raised suspicions among Chavez supporters, as there have been those who claim that it is in open dispute with Maduro for the presidency.
