The former President of the Central Bank of Ecuador, Pedro Delgado, agreed to a provisional registration that allowed him to sign as an economist for a period of one year. This benefit ended on October 12, 1995, as recorded in the certificate sent by the guild to prosecutors.
This information was recorded on notifications of new steps during the investigation of the alleged crime of forgery, sent on January 4 by the General Prosecutor, which was carried out through independent Assemblyman Enrique Herreria, the man was responsible for making the complaint.
Victor Alban Romero, the president who in the 90’s extended to Delgado the document in 12 October 1994, for a period of the same date in 1995, said Delgado had to submit the title of economist revalidated in any university of the country to continue signing as such, but this did not happen.
“Delgado must come to answer for his mistakes, and the deceptions he has committed,” said Alexis Mera, legal secretary of the presidency of the Republic, adding that the president, Rafael Correa, cannot have a restriction order, because “that’s what judges do.” Pedro Delgado remains in Miami since December 20 and is currently seeking political asylum in that country for himself and his family, this was confirmed his defense attorney, Juan Carlos Carmigniani.
