Panchana agrees with inhabitants on pipeline case
Yesterday, Assemblyman from the Ruling Party Rolando Panchana, on behalf of the Special Committee on Biodiversity and Natural Resources of the Assembly, along with delegates from Petroecuador and the National Secretariat of Water (Senagua for its Spanish acronym), made an inspection through air and land in the affected areas of Urbanizations located on Via a la Costa, by the installation of the pipeline, which will transfer Liquid Petroleum Gas from Monteverde, Santa Elena peninsula, to the station of Chorrillos, located in Pascuales.
The legislator, once the verification trough air was over, began to measure the distance between the residential areas and the construction of the pipeline, and found out that “the problem is more serious than it has been said, this is a problem that surrounds all urbanizations.”

Andres Darquea, leading the resistance against the construction of the pipeline, after learning of the visit of Panchana, of which he “was not informed,” said he will not rest until the pipelines are removed or disabled.
“Let it be clear that we are not against the pipeline, but the consequences that can result from its construction near a residential place,” added Darquea.
On his behalf, Mario Sanchez, delegate from Petroecuador warned that evictions could occur in homes that are less than 15 meters away from the pipeline, while Panchana said he expects that evictions will not take place.
For this afternoon is scheduled a meeting between a representative of the mayor of Guayaquil, representatives from Senagua and Petroecuador.
