He’s being called the “George Clooney of Saint Peter”, but in reality he is the secretary of the Pope. He is  Monsignor Georg Gänswein, the right hand of Pope Benedict XVI who was honored in the latest Italian edition of Vanity Fair, dedicating its cover to him  with a headline that says: “Being Beautiful is Not a Sin’.

Vanity Fair says that the cover is to honor his recent promotion to the rank of Archbishop and in recognition of its growing power in the Catholic Church.

The article, called “The Close Portrait of a Particular Bishop”, narrates his life from childhood in Germany to his consecration on January 6. It also explains how he managed to become one of the most influential people of the pontificate, because of its proximity to the pope. The article is accompanied with several photos of the 56-year handsome Archbishop, highlighting his blue eyes, big smile and athletic body, claiming to be passionate about sports.

Gänswein was the one who unmasked the butler Paolo Gabriele for having leaked confidential documents of the Pope. In addition, the religious has a flight pilot license and in his youth was a ski instructor. Today is a specialist in canon law.
