The attorney defending Ecuador in the case that the country carries in the United States against the former owners of Filanbanco believes that the ruling made by the court of Miami-Dade County rejected their claim, because it was based on “wrong premise” that sought to seize property of Isaiah in Miami.

“The motive was to recover the balance of the balance, not seize, so the court was not authorized to consider what happened before,” revealed Alan Davis, from the firm Squire Sanders. Ecuador announced it would appeal against the decision issued on May 30.

This decision reflects that the defendants “could have committed the acts alleged Ecuador“, “however, the way in which Ecuador has tried to correct those facts is not consistent with the laws and policies of the United States.”

According to the Miami Herald, the Isaias brothers, “consider the ruling as a victory against a totalitarian government that in 2008 confiscated about $ 400 million in property, companies and TV channels” in Ecuador.

“The ruling finally recognizes that there are no laws or due process in Ecuador,” said Roberto Isaias, 68, as the publication quoted.
