Chinese recycling magnate, Chen Guangbiao announced he was preparing to begin negotiations to buy the American newspaper ‘New York Times Co.’

Guangbiao, an eccentric millionaire  and known philanthropist, said his attempt to buy the newspaper is serious, something that’s covered by more than two years. He added that he is expecting to talk about it this Jan. 5, during a scheduled meeting with a large shareholder of this media in New York.

“There is nothing that can not be bought for the right price,” said Chen.

However, a spokesman for the newspaper said the company did not comment on rumors. Its chairman, Arthur Sulzberger, recently stated that the ‘NY Times’ was not for sale.

For his part, Chen said that if he could not buy the ‘New York Times’, would settle become main shareholder, and if that did not happen, just buy a block of shares.

If the attempt to buy the Times fails, Chen said he will bid to ‘CNN,’ ‘Washington Post’ or ‘Wall Street Journal.’
