60% of electoral ballot papers is ready

The authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE), the Minister of Defence, María Fernanda Espinosa, and the director of the Military Geographic Institute (IGM), Pedro Cabezas, noted this Monday of an advance of 60% in the printing of ballot papers.

This percentage reflects the 20’709,512 ballots from 34’303,904 to be used for the local elections on 23 February.

It is noteworthy that 550 people are currently working on rotating shifts in the print center, ensuring a permanent job 24 hours.

The ballot papers are made of bitonal paper of 90 grams with no visible microfibrils and visible watermark against the light, designed for exclusive use of the CNE. They also have anti scanner and anti copy mechanisms.

Domingo Paredes, president of the CNE, said that according to the projection, the total impression of the electoral material will conclude before 12 February next and the transfer of the material starts to provincial electoral delegations that will culminate on 22 February.
