Mario Pazmiño, leader of the Citizen Monitoring integrated by members of the civil society and that directs the case, assured today in the fiscal headquarters that the documentation “never was considered neither by the investigating commission, neither by the Prosecutor’s Office nor the expert Roberto Meza Niella “, Who investigated the event in order to clarify the murder.
General Gabela, excomandante of the Air Force, was assassinated in the vestibule of his address of the coastal city of Guayaquil in December of 2010, homicide that the authorities of then pointed out that it was work of the common delinquency.
However, his widow Patricia Ochoa, who attended the Prosecutor’s Office today, denounced that it was a murder related to the denunciations made by Gabela about the purchase by Ecuador of defective Dhruv Indian helicopters.
The facts were investigated by an Interinstitutional Commission initiated under the Executive of former President Correa.
Pazmiño clarified that the information delivered today is “new documentation,” which they collected after receiving reports from the expert Meza, which determined that the motive for the assassination of Gabela were the denunciations he had made about the irregularities in the purchase of Indian helicopters.
