The Economic Development Commission approves a report for the second debate on the Investment Law
This March 17, 2022, with six affirmative votes , the Economic Development Commission approved the report for the second debate of the Investment Attraction Law, a project presented by President Guillermo Lasso as urgent economic.

The assembly members: Nathalie Arias (CREO), Diana Pesántez (independent), Francisco Jiménez (CREO), Elina Narvaez (PSC), María Teresa Velásquez (alternate assembly member for Wilma Andrade of the ID) and Daniel Noboa (independent), voted in favor of the second debate report.
While three legislators voted against: John Vinueza (independent), Cristhian Yucailla (Pachakutik) and Carlos Zambrano (UNES). Vinueza pointed out that the legal proposal “lacks limits.”
Assemblyman Daniel Noboa noted that the new report contains a “highly modified and improved text . ” In that sense, he noted that 80% of the observations of the correista caucus of Unión por la Esperanza (Unes) were accepted. In addition, 70% of the observations of the Democratic Left (ID) and the Christian Social Party (PSC).
The pro-government assemblywoman, Nathalie Arias, pointed out that the figures of public-private partnerships (PPP) have been perfected , for the delegation of new infrastructure. This “guaranteed high standards of quality of service to users,” she said.
The president of the Assembly, Guadalupe Llori, must summon the Plenary to debate the report, later, the legislative table will deal with the observations. Parliament must approve or deny the project until March 24, 2022.
The second debate is expected to be convened on Tuesday, March 22.
