According official statistics from the Bank of Spain, in 2012, 39,167 houses were given to the banks as a result of foreclosure proceedings.
Statistics from this Bank revealed that 20,972 homes were voluntarily surrendered to the banks, while the other 18,195 were taken by court order; from all taken by a court order in around 2,968 of the cases the families were living in the houses.
