AEDEP rewards Ecuadorian writer Ivan Carvajal

The Ecuadorian Association of Newspaper Publishers (AEDEP for its Spanish acronym) Ivan Carvajal,was appointed as the first to be awarded with the prize ‘Juan Montalvo’ as an encouragement to those who struggle for fundamental guarantees fof human beings in the country.
Carvajal, who is an open mind, academic, writer, intellectual and guest columnist of El Comercio newspaper, was chosen from among six candidates: César Ricaurte, Xavier Michelena, Maria Fernanda Restrepo, Runapacha Association and College of lawyers of Guayas.
The jury was formed by Human Rights defender, Nelsa Curbelo; former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and ex Foreign Minister José Ayala Lasso, and Medardo Mora, Principal of the Eloy Alfaro University of Manta.
The AEDEP highlights the importance of free thought as essential to collective progress.
