El Inahmi emitió una nueva advertencia para este 19 de junio, porque varias ciudades presentarán índices de radiación UV entre alto y extremadamente alto. Además, las temperaturas diurnas aumentarán en las tres regiones.

A person walks with an umbrella on a street in northern Quito, on May 8, 2023. Inamhi warns about the danger of not protecting oneself.
At least 23 cities in mainland Ecuador and another three in the Galapagos Islands will endure a ‘very high’ solar or UV radiation index this Monday.
While in Pichincha, particularly in Quito, the UV index will be “extremely high,” reported the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inamhi).
Other provinces with the same UV index are Imbabura and Chimborazo.
When the UV index is very high in cities, the authorities recommend:
- Dress in clothes with long sleeves
- wear caps
- Bring sun umbrellas if you go out
- use sunscreen
- Avoid prolonged outdoor activities
On the other hand, Inamhi also forecasts high temperatures throughout the country, between June 19 and June 23. The hottest hours will be between 10:00 and 16:00.
“This scenario responds, among other factors, to the low moisture content in the environment,” explained the Institute.
