Alleged Emelec fans attacked Guayaquil
Last Saturday night began to circulate through the social networks photos of the base of the “Columna de los Próceres” (column of the heroes) located in the Centenary Park of Guayaquil, smeared with graffitis.
The attack would have been performed by the so-called supporters of the Club Sport Emelec, who forced the doors despite the fact that the Park was closed. That day, 24 hours in advance, the soccer team celebrated the anniversary number 84 since its creation, and the celebration was led by members of the fan group “well’s mouth”.
Yesterday, the municipality of Guayaquil placed a layer of yellow paint on the grey surface, and this covered the graffiti, also several municipal officials carried out an inspection to determine the damage at the site.
“We don’t have anything against Emelec or the barra brava, but this time they surpassed themselves, they broke the locks and opened the gates of the Park, they violated the security of the Park,” said one of the officials, who added that at that time the changing of the guard of the metropolitan police was taking place and private guards did not act quickly to alert the national police.
In downtown Guayaquil, Aguirre and Pedro Carbo streets, the building of the Prosecutor’s Office of Guayas was also painted with graffiti, as well as the headquarters of The Post Offices of Ecuador, where the doors were also forced.
