The Electoral Court declared the official list the winner as it was the only one authorized for the process. Rafael Verduga’s appeal was rejected.
After an endless electoral swing, this November 8, the Court of Barcelona SC declared the official list headed by Antonio Alvarez the winner as it was the only one qualified for the process and he will be ‘bullfighter’ president for the next four years (2023-2027).
In the resolution shared this Tuesday by the Court, it is specified that Rafael Verduga’s appeal was rejected “for being immersed in the prohibition provided in Art. 151 of the Sports Law, Physical Education and Recreation.”
Furthermore, in the same document, it was declared “the absence of any violation of the rights of the partner Verduga and his list.”
Therefore, “in compliance with the provisions of article 83 of the Social Statute of Barcelona Sporting Club”, the Court declared Alvarez the winner and his list accompanied by Xavier Salem, José Luis Nogales, Raúl Chávez, among others.
On November 6, a judge denied the protection action presented by Rafael Verduga for his list to be admitted to the elections. However, during the night and under the slogan that he will not hold on to any candidacy, his list presented the last appeal to be denied.
Five days before, on November 1 (the date on which the elections were to be held in Barcelona SC), the Electoral Court gave the green light to the official list after Carlos Alfaro Moreno, until then candidate for president, stepped aside, so as not to hinder the process.
Alvarez thanks the partners
After the Court’s resolution, Antonio Alvarez, brother of the mayor of Guayaquil Aquiles Alvarez, thanked the partners for their support throughout this process.
“Barcelona is yours, you deserve all the good that is coming for the institution,” wrote the leader in his X account, who will now have to carry out the proposal for the Comprehensive Development Complex on which he based his campaign.
“More management, less spending, that’s what I’m here for, so that Barcelona spends as little as possible, that’s what I’m in charge of,” continued the new ‘Canarian’ president, who also assured that said 115,000 square meter complex will be financed by the private company.
“Your ideas and projects are essential for the construction of an increasingly Monumental Barcelona, we will work hand in hand to achieve it,” he concluded.
