The President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, announced that his political group, Alianza PAIS (AP), will hold its convention in November to appoint representatives for next year’s elections.
“The convention will be in November. I think we have until the 17th to choose and register candidates, precisely tomorrow we have a meeting to discuss when would be the date of such convention,” said Correa.
Correa added that it is likely that another person could represent the movement in the presidential nomination, “I would be extremely happy to step aside and give free path to such person.”
The president also revealed that the current vice president of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, would have made the final decision of decline any candidacy. (MZ)
