Assembly approved the administration of 54 unemployment funds by Biess

The National Assembly yesterday approved on second debate, the draft Law of Amending Law on Social Security and to the Biess Law for the Closed Supplemental Pension Fund´s Administration

“We have 7163 sheets of complaints for non-payment or refund of the unemployment funds. After 30 years of having contributed they didn’t gave them a f…”, said the President of the Committee on the Rights of Workers, Betty Carrillo.

The project includes four conditions for the funds to maintain their private management and not being transfered to Biess. These are: that more than the half of the participants agrees to maintain the current administration, to prove that the participants voluntarily contributed, to ensure that resources will be returned to unitholders at any time; and finally, to reintegrate the value of state resources with interests to the Treasury.

Assemblywoman Cynthia Viteri said that the project is a “fraud”, like the profits of telephone workers, the hamburgers tax… with so much intervention they could end up being mutilated and could end up if the citizens stand up.”

Assemblywoman María Carrión, on the contrary said that there will be no intervention to the funds, but what is sought is to audit them.
