Assembly will not oversee new drug case on Diplomatic Suitcase
The National Assembly, which will end his term in May, has not issued a statement regarding the discovery of particles of cocaine in an Eloy Alfaro sculpture that the Foreign Ministry was sending to Canada through the diplomatic suitcase.
As announced by the legislature, this discovery is not part of the control of the Assembly, so it has not issued any statement, unlike what happened in the case of January 2012.
Cesar Montufar (Concertación Political Party) asked for the resignation of Ricardo Patiño as Chancellor, as he believes that these actions damage the country’s image.
Fernando Aguirre (PSP), who took action to find those responsible for the case of the “diplomatic suitcase”, said an investigation would be useless, according to him, because the regime protects certain officials to let some wrongful acts unpunished.
