Atletico Madrid is the New Monarch in Europe
This afternoon the final match of the UEFA Europe League between Atletico de Madrid and Athletic Bilbao was held at the National Arena stadium in Bucharest.
In the first seven minutes of the match, the Colombian foward Radamel Falcao opened the score with a diagonal shot goal. The first time was noticeably dominated by the local team, but the Bilbao also had two clear scoring chances. At minute 33, Falcao added the second goal for Atletico.
In the second half, Bilbao attacked relentlessly, however Atletico took the only chance for a goal, this allowed Diego to sentence the match in the minute 83 with a cross shot defeating the goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz.
With this victory Atletico Madrid crowned itself as the new monarch in Europe League 2012, while Falcao, with a total of 12 goals becomes the leading scorer of the tournament.
