Banana Isbelni S.A. was Seized by CFN and AGD

Last night Banana Isbelni S.A. was seized by the Nacional Financial Corporation (CFN) ‘No more Impunity’ and the Deposit Guarantee Custodial Agency (AGD).

This company, which was related to the former congressman and president of Congress, Juan Jose Pons, was seized due to alleged links with Grupo Aspiazu (Aspiazu Group). Since 2003, Grupo Aspiazu holds a debt with the Ecuadorian estate of about $ 40 million.

The president of the trust, Pedro Delgado, said the seizure was made ​​because of this linkage. It is still unknown the location of Pons, but it is known that the company is managed by one of his sons who has 60 days in order to show proves that may disassociate the banana company with Grupo Aspiazu, otherwise it will become a state property.
