Fourteen years has passed since fans have been able to watch Barcelona Sporting Club on top of the National Football League.

Barcelona experienced decedent moments due to some mismanagement; however their fans, the biggest crew in the country, never ceased to support the team the whole way through.

Thanks to Deportivo Quito’s triumph 2-0 against Emelec, Barcelona was yesterday crowned national champion of the tournament, without playing the final, getting their coveted star fourteenth.

Thousands of fans in every corner of Ecuador took to the streets to celebrate this event, which became a party not only in Guayaquil but throughout the whole country. Many fans commented on the fact that this day may be cause for a “national holiday”.

Cities like Guayaquil, Quito, Cuenca, Riobamba, Santa Elena, among others, celebrated the new title canary hard late into the night.

This Sunday, December 2nd, at the Monumental (12h00 GMT), Defending champion Barcelona will closes the season in a match against Deportivo Olmedo, who are last in the standings and dropped to Serie B.

It is expected, then, a major celebration, which includes the classic lap, before a stadium that will be filled to the flags.
