Berlusconi to Resign
Posted On 08 Nov 2011
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi offered to resign after the Parliament passes an economic reform bill. The 75-year old media tycoon made the offer to Italy’s president as the country is on the edge of a full debt crisis.
However this Tuesday Berlusconi political support seemed to wane after he is been pressed to quickly resign. Today Berlusconi won a budget vote, but only because the opposition abstained.
Despite the weakening support, Berlusconi ratified that he would not voluntarily resign; this challenges lawmakers that seek to remove him from the Parliament in the upcoming days or weeks. (AV)
