Bonil space occupied for replication
The space occupied everyday by newspaper El Universo, Guayaquil, by the cartoonist Bonil appeared occupied in today’s edition -including the columnist who writes below it- instead there was a long letter, signed by the presidential duo of Pais, Rafael Correa Delgado and Jorge Glas Espinel, who, invoking the right of replication, expressed their rejection to the cartoon that appeared on January 21 which says: “a plagiarism of Delgado… plagiarism of Glas… plagiarism of the Alvarado Brothers’ … And the President that on 30 S was invented another plagiarism.”
For them the cartoon with the text “affects” their image and “maliciously harms them” and therefore they demand that El Universo, on the basis of a series of legal arguments, that it must publish a letter, that besides apologizing the candidates, in a paragraph written by themselves, which they do, as stated on page 6 of the newspaper. They warn that without doing more harm in that publication, they “reserve the right to take further action…”
It is necessary to point out that the paper does not comment or responds to the letter, except give the news on the front page with the title “The duo Correa-Glas is unhappy with Bonil.” pointing out that the publication is “in compliance with the electoral rule.” Neither is there a statement of cartoonist Bonil (Xavier Bonilla).
