California passes law that penalizes the paparazzi
California Governor Jerry Brown passed a bill banning the paparazzi from photographing the minor children of celebrities. The project was directly supported by actresses Halle Berry and Jennifer Garner.
The Newspaper Publishers’ Association of California and other groups have opposed the mandate, refuting that the law restricts the work of journalists and photographers when they are covering the news.
The decree approves the increase in penalties for harassment of children of artists, from six months to one year in prison and potential fines of 1.000 to 10.000 dollars.
The participation of the group called “Hollywood moms”, Berry and Garner, last August, made this project takes hold in California, after each gave their testimony that they and their children are constantly harassed by the paparazzi everywhere they went.
