Case of the diplomatic suitcase has no guilty parties

Francisco Martinez, President of the Association of Diplomats and former official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ecuador) requested the Attorney General to complete the investigation regarding the case of the diplomatic suitcase case and find those responsible.

The association had sent a new letter to the prosecutor, due to the statements of Galo Chiriboga, the Attorney General’s Office, after hinting that the case of the diplomatic suitcase or ‘narcovalija’ would be closed without any apparent guilty in the chancellery. There are not even talking about administrative irresponsibility.

According to Martinez it “became a rare regulation” for the diplomatic suitcase office in November 2011. Time when there was talk of a special bag, which could send others, not only state but private. He stressed that Chiriboga statements are also rare; he says that the only people detained are in Italy and nothing has happened here.

Martinez said the situation is unfortunate, as the country loses its international credibility, which could end in isolation. “The only way Ecuador can wash its prestige and honor is by clarifying what happened,” he said.
