Chinese companies in Ecuador donate supplies to combat covid-19

The Chamber of Commerce of Chinese Companies in Ecuador  donated biosecurity supplies and protective suits to the Ecuadorian government to help fight the disease of the new coronavirus (covid-19) in the South American country.

The supplies from China were customs cleared on Thursday, April 16 at the Mariscal Sucre airport in Quito and delivered to the Ecuadorian Vice Minister of Government, Patricio Pazmiño , in the presence of authorities from the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador and representatives of Chinese companies operating in the country.

The donation was made by the China Road And Bridge Corporation (CRBC), which has been operating in Ecuador for eight years in the area of ​​highway, street and bridge construction.

CRBC general manager Zhang Xin told the Xinhua news agency that the donation includes supplies such as face masks, glasses and protective suits that will be destined for the use of personnel from the National Police and the Municipality of Quito to combat the covid-19.

“At this difficult time of the crisis, of the covid-19 pandemic, we want to carry out our social responsibility for the Ecuadorian peoples . With this type of experience that we are going to share, the relationship between the two countries will greatly improve in the future, ”he said.

This is the second donation made by the Chamber of Commerce of Chinese Companies in Ecuador in the framework of the health emergency that the Andean country is experiencing due to covid-19.

On March 31 , the Chamber of Commerce of Chinese Companies in Ecuador donated, through the Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, masks and medical protection suits for personnel of the Ministry of Public Health in the city of Guayaquil, capital of the province of Guayas ( southwest), the most hit by the virus.

In an interview with Xinhua , the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Chinese Companies in Ecuador, Liu Aisheng, said that the donations are a gesture of cooperation and friendship between the two countries .

“It is the second time as Chinese companies that we make a donation to Ecuador to fight covid-19. All Chinese companies work here in the same sky and the same air, so together we have to work in the fight against the virus, ”he said.

For his part, the Deputy Minister of Government of Ecuador, Patricio Pazmiño, thanked the donation of Chinese companies and noted that ” actions like this make relations continue on increasingly fruitful paths for both countries .”

“This will undoubtedly be an important support for the work carried out by officials of the Government Ministry and the National Police , so that they are having sufficient biosecurity guarantees at work throughout the country,” he said.

“We are happy that we can donate this batch of medical supplies to the Ecuadorian government. Since there was the first case of covid-19 in Ecuador, China has always been paying a lot of attention, “stressed the economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ecuador, Chen Feng.

He added that China is ready to help Ecuador in its fight against the virus , whose outbreak began in the Andean country on February 29 with the first imported case.

“What we mean is that together we can overcome this pandemic and this epidemic can be controlled , it can be prevented and above all it can be overcome, we have complete confidence,” Chen said.
