CNE will conduct a “social dialogue” for press regulation

Ecuadorian Journalists does not know how to cover the Electoral Process
QUITO, Ecuador
The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym), in order to make a regulation for the press at election time in a proper preparation, is calling on the public, private and community media to receive ideas, opinions and suggestions for such task.
That is why the CNE has decided to promote a “social dialogue” to be held on November 5 at Quito; 7 at Guayaquil, and 9 at Cuenca.
Although the CNE has made the call based on the right to participation in matters of public interest that the Constitution guarantees to all Ecuadorians, the National Union of Journalists (UNP for its Spanish acronym), the Association of Newspaper Publishers (AEDEP for its Spanish acronym), the Journalists Forum, among other sectors, warned that they will not go to those calls.
