Posted On 25 Jan 2012
Sergio Diaz-Granados, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, announced yesterday that the Government wants to “have ready the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Union (EU) in September”.
Diaz-Granados said the FTA will be signed in April, once it is signed, he will personally “initiate the process to take it later to the Congress and the courts” of Colombia.
It is also expected that the parliaments of all 27 member countries of the European Union have signed the agreement to enter into force by September.
“These agreements give us the opportunity to access a market of one billion customers,” he said.
“Today the world recognizes us and rewards us because we are placing bonds better than many advanced countries.”
