Correa and Nebot address escape case of “La Roca”
The escape of 19 dangerous offenders from the prison known as “La Roca“, in Guayaquil, has also provoked reactions from presidential candidate for reelection Rafael Correa Delgado and Mayor Jaime Nebot, with completely different visions.
As is known, the maximum security prison was built with funds from the Municipal Corporation of Security and the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil, and its management is the sole responsibility of the national government, through its Ministry of Interior.
Contrary to developments, the president, licensed to develop his election campaign, said his government “received a prison with huge gaps“, which was answered by the first municipal ombudsman saying that “with the complicity of the walls and bars nobody escapes“, and stressed that the leak itself explains” with the complicity “of those who are in charge of it.
