Correa says that neither political means losers are civil society

Posted On 01 May 2016

President Rafael Correa has questioned that civil society has acted more quickly and effectively than the state after the earthquake 7.8 on April 16.

“… At first they meant that he had not acted against the earthquake. When the evidence was so overwhelming that he had acted, and well, ah, was not the state, was civil society. And who is civil society? I am a civil society, you are the civil society, the farmer is civil society, “said Correa during last Saturday. “The new definition of civil society is all that acts, citizens acting individually or collectively outside government structures. For example a religious community, academic community, the Boy Scouts, an NGO dedicated to helping the poor, what do I know … that is civil society, now they pretend to be them civil society, the media, the losers politicians no, this is not civil society, “Correa said.

He also described as absurd the proposal CREO leader, Guillermo Lasso, who has proposed the creation of a trust that manages funds for the reconstruction of the provinces affected by the earthquake.

“Now they want to impose a trust is made. And you throw this nonsense and others begin to repeat. First, hopefully they not forget that in those trusts bankers put their property, their money, to bankrupt banks but not break them. Care make us want what has destroyed us (I).
